"In baseball you only get three swings and you're out. In rewriting, you get almost as many swings as you want and you know, sooner or later, you'll hit the ball." - Neil Simon

An interactive workshop. Each student will:

- Email me something you've written (up to 1250 words)
- I'll email you suggestions for revision, and you do a rewrite (in 2 hours or less)
- In class you read it to the group.

- After you read, we discuss the piece and how it changed during the rewriting process. We also discuss what you're discovering about yourself as a writer and how to build on your strengths

Payment is on a sliding scale:

Employed/doing okay financially: $225

Unemployed/underemployed/financially distressed: $75

Somewhere in between: $150

1-day writing workshop
Next session: TBA

I've been writing for the page & stage for 40 years. My work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, salon.com and other publications. I've won awards as a playwright, performer, and director. And yet I still struggle all the time with fear, procrastination, and other artistic demons. I designed this workshop to teach what I've learned about not giving up.

Watch a 1-minute video from the workshop

The workshop includes writing exercises; Ten Tips for Not Giving Up; and techniques for sustaining your work, including an Artistic Emergency Plan.
Note: This is a writing workshop. There will be no performance.

Register by phone: Call 415/641-0235 Mon-Fri 10am-5pm

Cancellation Policy: 50% refund for cancellations received by Dec. 18, 2017. No refunds will be issued after that date. Cancellations must be made over the phone at 415/641-0235, with a Marsh staff person during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, between 10am and 4pm.
